Kuravan Community

We form the sixth largest Scheduled Caste population in Tamil Nadu. Traditionally, we earned our living by producing and selling household items out of bamboo and palm leaves. However, we are better known as the community which introduced and trains parrots in the art of astrology. Not surprisingly, we are also known as kili josiyars which means 'parrot astrologers'.
